Miracles in May with El-Roi Baby Home

The month of May has been such a spiritually awakening month, we have had a chance to see God’s hand moving at the baby home. We have experienced so much love and support from the volunteers, donors and church elders visiting our children. Their prayers keeps the staff of the baby home going every day.

CHILDREN MATTERS:

This month we had many babies who were admitted as the overnight stay, most of them were removed from their families due to abandonment by parents and there was no one to take care of them. Currently we have 19 babies at the baby Home, 8 boys and 11 girls.

We have 3 admissions for this month, one child from DSD Harding and two are from child welfare port Shepstone. On the 16th this month, one child was discharged from our care to be re-unified with her Paternal grandmother.

We have 7 children who were placed with form 36 and out of these children, 3 have been temporarily placed at El-Roi with a Court order. The other 3 children were taken back home, and 1 child is still with us, however the case manager is still investigating the case.

Six cases reviewed, with case managers from DSD Umzumbe, DSD Umzinto, DSD Gamalakhe, Child welfare Port Shepstone, DSD Harding, and Child welfare Margate

STAFF UPDATES

We are so grateful to see that we are equipping our staff members for better opportunities at the baby home. Sharrefa Vere has joined and leading School Investment Program at Genesis, and Elizabeth Dicken leading at the Shack.

It is good to see people growing and given what they are passionate about. We conduct trainings on basics about Child Care Act which is very important for people working with children. Our staff is working passionately and dedicated. We are looking forward to the interns who are the qualified Child and Youth Care workers from the beginning of June. We are hoping that we will both benefit from each other as they are graduates coming straight from University.
