SafePlace is working to meet the need of an immediate place of safety for vulnerable people in communities around the Port Shepstone area. Many of the people we serve are victims of abuse, gender-based violence, rape, and sexual assault.

Our Genesis Care Centre offers peace of mind, through Assisted Living, Respite and Frail Care. We also offer a separate Palliative Care Unit. Our all-inclusive care ensures that our residents enjoy professional care and the comfort of living in a home away from home.

Wave of Hope

The Wave of Hope Surf Academy is a project of Genesis Hope South Africa that aims to support young teenagers in our communities, through teaching surfing.

Who We Are

Genesis Hope South Africa is an outreach ministry of the Norwegian Settlers Church, which is located in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.

Our vision is to take the church outside its’ walls by serving our communities holistically, meeting physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs that are associated with extreme poverty and other social issues.

Vision and Leadership

Thanks to the vision and leadership of Trevor and Helene Downham, our Genesis founders, the contribution of land from the church, together with the generosity of individuals and a registered board of trustees, the Genesis Care Centre was established in May 2005.
