Caring for a Loved One
Caring for a loved one with Dementia or Alzheimer's can be both challenging and frightening, not only for the person living with dementia but also for their loved ones. At Charis House, our carers are trained to help you and your loved one navigate your way through this often unpredictable journey.
Charis House is our specialised care home for residents with dementia. Located on the beautiful Norwegian Settler's Church grounds, Charis House is focused on providing the best ‘person – centred care', addressing individual needs and the unexpected changes synonymous with this illness.
Due to the very nature of Dementia and Alzheimers, the safety of our residents is of paramount importance. At Charis House, residents are protected by restricted access control and 24-hour security. Our carers are trained in dementia care and will always be on hand to help calm and comfort residents when confusion sets in.
Live Full, Happy and Engaged Lives
Our residents are encouraged to live full, happy and engaged lives with daily activities that are organised, taking into account the varying cognitive and physical capabilities, as well as residents' passions and preferences. Keeping in line with global dementia care standards, Charis House aims to provide world class care, taking into consideration every aspect of the design, layout and décor of the home – down to the colour choices of the walls and furnishings.
As one's dementia progresses, needs will change and our multi-disciplinary team will consider and implement whatever change in care is required.
Our Charis carers are specifically trained in dementia care and there is 24-hours a day care, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. As a resident's dementia progresses, needs are continually monitored and evaluated by our multi-disciplinary team to ensure care is adapted accordingly.
